MSFW 2014: Designer Runway 1

Last night saw the kick off of the MSFW Designer runway series, and the bar has certainly been set high.
The show was an absolute pleasure to the senses, complete with a live orchestra and an art-filled light show. At the heart of the show was the exquisite couture finesse of our local designers. It was all about whimsical romance, passion and flare.
Jason Grech set the evening into motion with his dramatic, gothic pieces. The tensions between structure and fluidity paired with the exquisite embellishments and detail set the tone for those to come.
With many incredible collections to grace the runway, Anaessia and Michael Lo Sordo were standout favourites of mine. Between them we saw modern tailored elegance and fantastical, delicate grace and poise.
Anaessia’s collection encapsulated all that is exquisite and opulent. Crystal embellishments, and sheer skirts marked her ethereal collection, and certainly left the audience captivated.
Perhaps Anaessia’s polar design opposite,Michael Lo Sordo, was my other favourite. His minimalist designs toyed with colour and texture, and found their intricacy in their genius silhouettes.
